Luleep Kids
Privacy Policy
Effective date: Coming soon
In short: Luleep Kids has no accounts, no ads and no ad tracking. Cry tracking listens on your phone only while you have it switched on; no audio is recorded, stored or sent, and the night log of what it notices stays on your phone. Today the app sends a technical crash report if something goes wrong (you can turn that off in Settings) and, only if you agree, usage statistics about which features are used (you can change that anytime). Parent mode is not available yet; this policy already describes what it will do.
Who this app is for
Luleep Kids is an app for parents. It plays soothing sounds and calm sleep scenes to help a baby or little one settle at bedtime, with a sleep timer and, with Premium, optional cry tracking. The app is meant to be used by adults on their own phone; it is not designed for children to use. We respect your privacy and your family's; this policy explains what information is handled and how.
Data we collect
Luleep Kids does not ask you to create an account and does not collect or share personal data such as your name, email, precise location or contacts (a name you choose to enter stays only on your device; see below). The app has no advertising and no ad tracking; no advertising ID is used and your data is never sold. Today only two kinds of technical information can leave your phone, both described below: crash reports, which are on by default and can be turned off in Settings, and usage statistics, which are sent only if you agree. Parent mode, once it is available and only if you set it up, will send some data between your paired phones; it is described in its own section.
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
When the app crashes or hits a serious error, an error report is sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics so we can find and fix the problem. The report contains technical information only: the error log (where in the app's code the error happened), the phone model and manufacturer, the Android version, the app version, the time of the error, the device's technical state at that moment (e.g. free memory, screen orientation), the app's state (e.g. how many sound layers were playing, which screen was open, whether you have Premium, whether cry tracking was on) and a random installation identifier, specific to this app, that Firebase creates to group reports.
Your name, the names of your saved mixes, any audio and any cry-tracking data (the night log) are never included, and no advertising ID is used. The data is encrypted in transit. Google processes it on our behalf as a service provider (data processor); Firebase keeps crash reports for 90 days and then deletes them. Crash reports are on by default; you can turn them off at any time in Settings with “Send crash reports”. Turning them off also deletes reports not yet sent from your device.

Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
To improve Luleep Kids we'd like to see which features are used and how much. So on first launch the app asks you “Share usage statistics?” (if you started using Luleep Kids before this feature arrived, you are asked once). No usage statistics are collected or sent unless you agree.
If you agree, only events about how the app is used are sent to Google Analytics for Firebase: app opens and the screens viewed; which built-in sounds and sleep scenes are played and how mixes are used (sound and scene IDs and counts — not the names you give your mixes); listening time in rough ranges (e.g. “30–60 min”); use of the sleep timer; views of the Premium page and Premium purchase or subscription events (product, price and currency, which Firebase records automatically from Google Play purchases — never your payment details); starting cry tracking and rough summary counts for the night (e.g. how many times crying was heard or the soothing sound started).
In addition, Firebase automatically collects a random app-instance ID specific to this app, the phone model, the Android version, the app version, the language, the country or region estimated from your IP address (not your precise location) and session information (e.g. when and for how long the app was open).
Your name, any audio or recording, any transcript of sound and the details of the night log (the times, lengths and kinds of individual sounds) are never sent. No advertising ID is used (the app doesn't request the advertising ID permission), and there is no user ID or account. This data is not used for advertising or ad personalisation, Google signals are off and the data is never sold. It is encrypted in transit. Google LLC processes it on our behalf as a service provider (data processor); Google Analytics keeps event-level data for 2 months and then deletes it; aggregated, numerical reports may remain visible to us for longer.
You can change your choice at any time in Settings with “Usage statistics”. When you turn it off, no new data is sent and the analytics data on your device (events not yet sent and the app-instance ID) is reset.
Information that stays on your device
Preferences such as the theme, volume, timer duration, sleep-scene brightness, your last mix and your saved mixes are stored on your device and are never sent to us. They are deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
If you have Android backup turned on, your settings and saved mixes may be included in your own device backup, which is managed by Google under your Google account; we cannot access it. Your name and your cry-tracking night log are never included in backups or device transfers.
Your name (optional)
On first launch you can enter your first and last name so the app can greet you; this step can be skipped. The name is stored only on your device and used only for the greeting on the home screen. It is never sent to us or anyone else, and it is excluded from Android backups and device transfers. You can change or remove it anytime in Settings.
Cry tracking and the microphone (Premium, optional)
Luleep Kids' optional cry tracking feature uses your phone's microphone only when you turn it on and only for as long as it stays on. It keeps working with the screen off and shows a notification the whole time it listens; you can stop it from that notification or in the app at any moment. The app asks for microphone permission only when you first turn cry tracking on, after explaining what it is for — never at install or launch.
Sound from the microphone is analysed in real time on your phone by a sound-recognition model built into the app. Audio is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere; it does not reach us or any third party. The app only keeps about one second of sound in memory at a time, constantly overwritten, and never writes it to storage.
When your baby cries for a few seconds, the feature starts the soothing sound you chose for the time you set, then listens again. It also notes other sounds heard in the night: babbling or sleep talk, laughing, whimpering, coughing, sneezing and hiccups. The only information kept on your phone (the “night log”) is: when tracking started and stopped; each sound's type, time, duration and how sure the model was; and when and for how long the soothing sound played. The night log stays on your device only, is excluded from backups and device transfers, covers at most the last 90 nights and can be deleted night by night or all at once in the app at any time. It is also deleted when you uninstall the app. If you allowed usage statistics, only the fact that cry tracking was started and rough summary counts for the night (e.g. how many times crying was heard) are sent; audio and the details of the night log are never sent.
You can withdraw microphone access at any time in Android Settings › Apps › Luleep Kids › Permissions; only cry tracking stops working.
Cry tracking is not a baby monitor, a medical device or a safety device. It can miss sounds or mistake other sounds for crying, and it does not replace watching over your child.
Open-source components used for cry tracking: the YAMNet sound model and the LiteRT runtime (Apache License 2.0). These components run on your phone and do not connect to the internet.
Parent mode Coming soon
Parent mode is not available yet. This section describes what will happen when it is. It will be optional and off until you set it up. Before parent mode is switched on in the app, we will review this section against the finished feature and update the effective date of this policy; if anything differs from what is written here, the updated policy will say so.
What it will do. Parent mode connects two phones: one stays in the nursery (“nursery phone”) and one is yours (“parent phone”). When cry tracking on the nursery phone hears crying or babbling, your phone gets a notification, and you can choose to listen to the room live — at home or away, over Wi-Fi or mobile data.
Pairing. You pair the phones by scanning a QR code shown on the nursery phone with the parent phone. No account, name, email or phone number is needed.
Alerts. When the nursery phone notices a sound event, it sends a short message containing only the pairing ID, the event type (for example “crying” or “soothing sound started”) and its time to our server functions (Google Firebase Cloud Functions), which deliver it to the parent phone as a notification through Firebase Cloud Messaging. No audio is part of an alert.
Live listening. Only when you start listening from the paired parent phone does the nursery phone stream microphone audio to it, through LiveKit (a real-time audio service). The audio is end-to-end encrypted, so neither LiveKit nor we can hear it, and it is not recorded or stored anywhere. While someone is listening, the nursery phone shows a visible “parent is listening” indicator. Streaming stops when you stop listening. Short-lived access keys tied to your pairing are used, so only a paired phone can listen.
What will be stored. To make this work, our Firebase database (Google Cloud Firestore) will keep only: a random pairing ID, the notification tokens of the two phones (addresses Firebase Cloud Messaging uses to deliver notifications) and timestamps (for example when the pairing was created and when the nursery phone last checked in, so we can tell you if the connection is lost). No names, email addresses, audio or night logs are stored on our servers. To connect the phones, Google and LiveKit necessarily process the phones' IP addresses.
Unpairing and deletion. You will be able to unpair from either phone with one tap. Unpairing deletes the pairing record and the notification tokens from our database and ends any access to listening.
Like cry tracking, parent mode will not be a baby monitor or a safety device. Notifications can be delayed and connections can drop; it does not replace supervision.
Subscriptions
On Android, Luleep Kids Premium is purchased and managed through Google Play. When Luleep Kids is available on iPhone, subscriptions there will be purchased and managed through the Apple App Store. We don't receive your payment details: Google Play and the App Store process payments under their own privacy policies. Your subscription status is checked on your device using information from the store.
You can cancel anytime in Google Play › Subscriptions. Once Luleep Kids is available on iPhone, subscriptions there can be cancelled in iPhone Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions.

Internet
Sounds, sleep scenes and cry tracking work offline. An internet connection is used only for subscription operations with Google Play (and, once Luleep Kids is available on iPhone, with the App Store), for sending crash reports if they are on, for sending usage statistics if you allowed them and — once it is available and only if you set it up — for parent mode.
Service providers and international transfers
We use a small number of service providers, who process data only on our behalf and under their own data protection terms:
- Google (Firebase Crashlytics) for crash reports and Google Analytics for Firebase for usage statistics (only with your permission) — today. Once parent mode is available, also Firebase Cloud Messaging (notifications), Cloud Functions and Cloud Firestore (pairing records).
- LiveKit for parent mode's live listening — once parent mode is available. The audio it relays is end-to-end encrypted. LiveKit's privacy policy: livekit.com/legal/privacy-policy
- Google Play and, once Luleep Kids is on iPhone, the Apple App Store handle purchases as independent services under their own policies (see Subscriptions).
These providers may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Where data protection law requires it, such transfers rely on the safeguards these providers offer, such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your choices and rights
You stay in control on your phone: you can turn crash reports and usage statistics off in Settings, delete single nights or the whole night log in the app, change or remove your name in Settings, withdraw the microphone permission in Android Settings, and uninstall the app to delete everything it stored on your device. Once parent mode is available, unpairing deletes the pairing data from our database.
Because we don't ask for an account, we usually cannot link any data to you. If you have a question or a request about your data (for example access or deletion where the law gives you that right), write to us using the contact below; you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
This website
luleep.com uses no cookies, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party services: fonts and images are served from this website itself. Like any website, our hosting provider may keep short-lived technical server logs (such as IP address, time and the page requested) to keep the site secure and running; we don't use them to identify or profile visitors.
Children
Luleep Kids is made for parents and other adults, not for children to use, and it does not knowingly collect personal data from children. Crash reports and (only with permission) usage statistics are limited to technical information and usage events; they contain no name, email or account information. The cry-tracking night log describes sounds heard near the phone (such as crying), stays on your phone and is never sent to us. Once parent mode is available, the live audio of the room is sent only to your own paired phone, end-to-end encrypted and never stored.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date. We will update it before parent mode is switched on.
