Luleep

Privacy Policy

Effective date: Coming soon

In short: Luleep has no accounts. The free version shows Google AdMob ads (with your consent where required); Premium is ad-free. Sleep tracking and “Adjust to noise” analyse sound on your phone only, and no audio is ever sent; no audio is stored unless you turn on Night highlights, which keeps short clips only on your phone. The app sends a technical crash report if something goes wrong (you can turn that off in Settings) and, only if you agree, usage statistics about which features are used (you can change that anytime).

Luleep is an app that plays sounds to help you sleep. We respect your privacy; this policy explains what information is handled and how.

Data we collect

Luleep does not ask you to create an account and does not collect or share personal data such as your name, email, precise location or contacts (a name you choose to enter stays only on your device; see below). Your data is never sold. The following technical information can leave your phone, all described below: crash reports, which are on by default and can be turned off in Settings, usage statistics, which are sent only if you agree, and, in the free version, the information Google's ad service receives to show ads.

Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)

When the app crashes or hits a serious error, an error report is sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics so we can find and fix the problem. The report contains technical information only: the error log (where in the app's code the error happened), the phone model and manufacturer, the Android version, the app version, the time of the error, the device's technical state at that moment (e.g. free memory, screen orientation), the app's state (e.g. how many sound layers were playing, which screen was open, whether you have Premium, whether sleep tracking was on) and a random installation identifier, specific to this app, that Firebase creates to group reports.

Your name, the names of your saved mixes, any audio and any sleep-tracking data are never included, and neither is any advertising ID. The data is encrypted in transit. Google processes it on our behalf as a service provider (data processor); Firebase keeps crash reports for 90 days and then deletes them. Crash reports are on by default; you can turn them off at any time in Settings with “Send crash reports”. Turning them off also deletes reports not yet sent from your device.

Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)

To improve Luleep we'd like to see which features are used and how much. So on first launch the app asks you “Share usage statistics?” (if you started using Luleep before this feature arrived, you are asked once). No usage statistics are collected or sent unless you agree.

If you agree, only events about how the app is used are sent to Google Analytics for Firebase: app opens and the screens viewed; which built-in sounds are played and how mixes are used (sound IDs and counts — not the names you give your mixes); listening time in rough ranges (e.g. “30–60 min”); use of the sleep timer; views of the Premium page and Premium purchase or subscription events (product, price and currency, which Firebase records automatically from Google Play purchases — never your payment details); starting sleep tracking and rough summary counts for the night (e.g. how many snoring events were noticed); with Night highlights, how many clips a night kept, their rough type and that a clip was played; with “Adjust to noise”, how often your sounds rose, in rough ranges.

In addition, Firebase automatically collects a random app-instance ID specific to this app, the phone model, the Android version, the app version, the language, the country or region estimated from your IP address (not your precise location) and session information (e.g. when and for how long the app was open).

Your name, any audio or recording, any transcript of sound and the details of sleep-tracking events are never sent. Usage statistics don't use the advertising ID, and there is no user ID or account. This data is not used for advertising or ad personalisation, Google signals are off and the data is never sold. It is encrypted in transit. Google LLC processes it on our behalf as a service provider (data processor); Google's servers may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Google Analytics keeps event-level data for 2 months and then deletes it; aggregated, numerical reports may remain visible to us for longer.

You can change your choice at any time in Settings with “Usage statistics”. When you turn it off, no new data is sent and the analytics data on your device (events not yet sent and the app-instance ID) is reset.

Information that stays on your device

Preferences such as volume, default timer duration, your last mix and your saved mixes are stored on your device and are never sent to us. They are deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data.

If you have Android backup turned on, your preferences and saved mixes may be included in your own device backup, which is managed by Google under your Google account; we cannot access it. Your name and your sleep-tracking data are never included in backups or device transfers.

Your name (optional)

On first launch you can enter your first and last name so the app can greet you; this step can be skipped. The name is stored only on your device and used only for the greeting on the home screen. It is never sent to us or anyone else, and it is excluded from Android backups and device transfers. You can change or remove it anytime in Settings.

Sleep tracking, the microphone and night highlights (Premium, optional)

If you start sleep tracking, Luleep uses your phone's microphone to notice snoring, sleep talking and coughing. The microphone is used only while sleep tracking is on, and a notification is shown the whole time; you can stop tracking at any moment.

Sound is analysed only on your phone, by a sound-recognition model built into the app. No audio is ever sent to us or anyone else. Unless you turn on “Save important moments” (below), no audio is recorded or stored. Only information about what was noticed (its type, time and length) and the start and end time of the night are stored on your device. This information is excluded from Android backups and device transfers, and at most the last 90 nights are kept. You can delete a single night or all of them in the app at any time. If you allowed usage statistics, only the fact that sleep tracking was started and rough summary counts for the night are sent; audio and the times or details of events are never sent.

Smart alarm (Premium, optional): You can set an alarm together with sleep tracking. Within the smart window you choose, Luleep wakes you a little earlier if the sounds sleep tracking already notices show signs of light sleep (movement or sound); otherwise the alarm rings at the time you set. After the alarm rings, sleep tracking listens for a short while longer and the morning summary estimates whether you got up with the alarm, snoozed, or slept on. No audio is recorded or sent for this either; only the alarm times, the number of snoozes and the type of outcome are stored on your device with the night (excluded from Android backups and device transfers). Whether your phone is in use at that moment (screen and lock state) is checked only for this estimate and is not stored. If you allowed usage statistics, only the fact that an alarm was set (with its window length) and the night's outcome type with a rough snooze count are sent; times, durations and audio are never sent. The smart alarm is an estimate, does not measure sleep stages and is not a medical device.

Night highlights (Premium, optional, off by default): If you turn on “Save important moments”, Luleep does not record the night; it keeps only short audio clips of the important moments it notices during sleep tracking (e.g. sleep talking, the loudest snoring, loud sounds such as a dog barking or a door) — at most 8 clips a night, each up to 15 seconds — so you can listen to them in the morning, only on your phone. The clips are never sent to us or anyone else and are excluded from Android backups and device transfers. Clips you don't star are deleted automatically after 7 days; deleting a night deletes its clips, and you can delete all clips in the app at any time. Other people in the room may be heard in the clips; please let them know before you turn this on. A clip is shared only if you tap “Share”, with the app you choose. While tracking, the notification says “Saving important moments”; you can turn the option off at any time. If you allowed usage statistics, only how many clips a night kept, their rough type (talking / snoring / other) and that a clip was played are sent; never the clips themselves, their times or lengths.

Sleep tracking is not a medical device and does not provide any health diagnosis or advice.

Adjust to noise and the microphone (Premium, optional)

If you turn on “Adjust to noise”, your sounds rise a little for a moment when outside noise is heard (traffic, voices, snoring, a dog, a door) and then settle back. While sleep tracking is on, this uses the microphone tracking already uses. Without sleep tracking, Luleep uses the microphone only while “Adjust to noise” is on and your sounds play, and a notification (“Adjusting to noise”, with a Turn off button) shows the whole time. The sound is processed on your phone in short moments and immediately overwritten: only its level and, when the room is louder than usual, a few scores from a sound-recognition model built into the app are used for that moment's decision. No audio is recorded, stored or sent, and nothing that was heard is kept — only how often your sounds rose is counted. If you allowed usage statistics, one summary per listening session is sent (how many times your sounds rose, the largest rise in rough ranges, and whether it ran with sleep tracking); never what was heard, times or audio. It stops when you turn it off, when Premium ends, when sleep tracking starts (which then uses its own microphone), when your sounds have been stopped for a minute, or when you tap Turn off.

You can withdraw the microphone permission in your phone's settings at any time; only sleep tracking, night highlights and “Adjust to noise” stop working then.

Breathing, sleep schedule, alarms, sunrise and notifications

The breathing exercises, the sleep schedule (bedtime, wake-up time, days and bedtime reminder) and the alarms work entirely on your device. Their settings are stored on your phone like your other preferences and are never sent to us. To do their job, Luleep asks Android for a few permissions; none of them is used to collect data:

Vibration — to guide a breathing exercise with gentle vibrations (only if you turn this on) and to vibrate when an alarm rings. Notifications — for the bedtime reminder (with “Play mix” and “Breathing exercise”), the ringing alarm and the notice shown while sleep tracking is on; you can turn them off in Android settings. Alarms & reminders (exact alarms) — so the wake-up alarm rings exactly on time; without it, Android may let the alarm ring late. Full-screen alarm — to show the alarm with Snooze and Stop over the lock screen, only at the moment an alarm you set goes off. Run at startup — to schedule an alarm you set again after the phone restarts, the app is updated or the time or time zone changes; it does nothing else. Sunrise (Premium, optional) — before an alarm you set, a gentle sound and a warm light rise on the screen; it uses the same notification and full-screen permission as the alarm and raises the brightness only of Luleep's sunrise screen. Pause when flipped (off by default) — while the option is on and sound plays, Luleep reads the phone's motion sensor (accelerometer) only to notice that the phone was turned face-down; the readings are used for that moment and are not stored or sent.

Subscriptions

On Android, Luleep Premium is purchased and managed through Google Play. When Luleep is available on iPhone, subscriptions there will be purchased and managed through the Apple App Store. We don't receive your payment details: Google Play and the App Store process payments under their own privacy policies. Your subscription status is checked on your device using information from the store.

You can cancel anytime in Google Play › Subscriptions. Once Luleep is available on iPhone, subscriptions there can be cancelled in iPhone Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions.

Ads (free version only)

The free version of Luleep shows ads through Google's ad service Google AdMob: a small banner at the bottom of the home screen and, if you choose, rewarded ads you can watch to unlock one Premium sound for a while. Premium has no ads and the ad software never runs. No ads are shown while sound plays or sleep tracking runs.

To show ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK sends Google: your advertising ID (Android Advertising ID) and App Set ID, your IP address and the approximate location derived from it, device and app information (model, Android and app version, language), ad interactions (impressions, clicks) and diagnostics. Google processes this to serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud, under its own policies: policies.google.com/technologies/ads · policies.google.com/privacy

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland (and wherever else required) you are first asked for consent through Google's consent form; if you decline, only non-personalised / limited ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time in Settings › “Ad privacy choices”, and reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings (Privacy › Ads). Ads are limited to content suitable for general audiences (G). Sleep tracking, audio, your name and your mixes are never used for ads or sent to the ad network. Usage statistics (Firebase Analytics) are a separate permission and are never used for ads.

Internet

Sounds play offline. Sleep tracking, the smart alarm, the breathing exercises and the sleep schedule work offline too. An internet connection is used only for subscription operations with Google Play (and, once Luleep is available on iPhone, with the App Store) for sending crash reports if they are on, for sending usage statistics if you allowed them, and for ads in the free version.

This website

luleep.com uses no cookies, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party services: fonts and images are served from this website itself. Like any website, our hosting provider may keep short-lived technical server logs (such as IP address, time and the page requested) to keep the site secure and running; we don't use them to identify or profile visitors.

Children

Luleep does not knowingly collect personal data from children. Crash reports and (only with permission) usage statistics are limited to technical information and usage events; they contain no name, email or account information.
